“It’s time to get to work, dig in and thoroughly research those tips”

WASHINGTON — In its second week since launching, insiders are turning to Empower Oversight Whistleblowers & Research (EMPOWR) with tips on waste, fraud and abuse.

“I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the number of folks who have reached out to Empower Oversight with significant information,” Empower Oversight Founder and President Jason Foster said. “Now it’s time to get to work, dig in and thoroughly research those tips.

“As a new watchdog group, we are already investigating claims of Chinese researchers seeking to remove COVID-19 sequences from a federal database and apparent conflicts of interest in hiring at the Department of Justice. We’re seeing results from our work, and are looking forward to making an impact for accountability.”

Foster talked more about working with whistleblowers and the launch of Empower Oversight with Law360 and on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

EMPOWR filed two comprehensive FOIA requests this week. The first, sent to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), requests information into DOJ’s handling of apparent conflicts of interest in the hiring of Susan Hennessey, in light of her prejudicial comments on social media about ongoing Special Counsel investigations.

second, sent to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), requests information regarding Chinese researchers asking the NIH to remove COVID-19 sequences from a federal database. Sequences of the COVID-19 virus are critical to understanding how the pandemic started, in order to prevent future outbreaks.

Foster also weighed in on the explosive  DOJ Office of Inspector General report that found the FBI grossly mishandled the investigation into U.S. Olympic and USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar:
Empower Oversight Whistleblowers & Research (EMPOWR) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization dedicated to enhancing independent oversight of government and corporate wrongdoing. EMPOWR works to help insiders document and report corruption to the proper authorities while also seeking to hold authorities accountable to act on those reports.
